Transit is a multidisciplinary interrogation of the perilous journeys undertaken during the Sri Lankan civil war. Exhibited at R-Space Gallery, Lisburn, this body of work weaves together personal biography and the universal search for refuge.
Central to the installation are three-dimensional skeleton boats, original prints, and delicate drawings that capture the fragility of life on the open sea. By utilizing skeletal structures, Anushiya Sundaralingam mirrors the resilience of those navigating darkness and uncertainty.
Transit serves as a poignant bridge between the artist's past displacement and the current global landscape of diaspora, fostering a deep empathy for the search for home amidst tumultuous seas.
