Fragmented Crossings
Project type
Multidisciplinary art exhibition
Location
Queen Street Studios, Belfast, N. Ireland
Exhibited in Queen Street Studios, where Anushiya is one of the studio's resident artists, Fragmented Crossings is a solo presentation by Anushiya Sundaralingam, charting the shifting tides of identity and the immigrant experience. Supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture grant, this body of work explores the fragmentation and reconstruction of "home" in relation to place.
Based in Belfast, Sundaralingam utilizes a sophisticated multidisciplinary approach—spanning sculpture, installation, and performance—to challenge fixed perceptions of the self. Her practice is deeply rooted in her migration from Sri Lanka to Northern Ireland, using form and material to examine the resilience of the human condition amidst political upheaval.
By distilling personal history into universal abstraction, Sundaralingam highlights how memory and identity remain both fragile and enduring. Following her international acclaim at Art Mumbai, Fragmented Crossings contributes to a global dialogue on displacement, inviting curators and collectors to reflect on how these journeys shape our collective human narrative.
