Anushiya Sundaralingam: Contemporary Multidisciplinary Artist.
Anushiya Sundaralingam is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores the intricate intersections of identity, displacement, and the resilient human spirit. Born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, and based in Belfast, her work is a profound meditation on the "shifting tides of home" -charting the emotional and physical landscapes of migration through a lens of universal resonance.
From the skeletal, ribcage-like vessels of the Adrift and Constructed Journeys series to the anthropomorphic abstractions in Passages, Sundaralingam utilizes a rich lexicon of South Asian imagery and organic textures. Her process involves a constant state of "fragmentation and reconstruction," utilizing mixed media, sculpture, and installation to challenge fixed perceptions of place.
The evolution of Anushiya’s practice now extends into performance art, where the artist uses the body as a site of memory and a vessel for narrative. These live interventions further deepen her exploration of the human condition - how we adapt, resist, and redefine ourselves in changing environments.
Anushiya’s work has garnered significant international prestige, including solo presentations at the Saskia Fernando Gallery and exhibitions at Art Mumbai and the Osaka International Art fairs. Supported by the British Council and held in the Arts Council of Northern Ireland collection, her practice serves as a vital witness to the collective narratives of the diaspora - transforming personal history into investment-grade contemporary art.
